The town of Solothurn has existed for 2000 years. In Roman times, coins from all over the Roman Empire were also common here. But it was not until the High Middle Ages that Solothurn began to mint its own coins. Unlike today, where money has become virtual, for centuries money was an object of communication, economic and commercial development and a powerful symbol of the ambition of its issuers.
The British Royal Mint has issued a commemorative coin in honour of the famous musician Paul McCartney in 2024. RTS (Radio/Télévision Suisse Romande) asked me a few questions about this new commemorative coin. (Interview in French)
