Selling Swiss silver coins

Interesting facts explained in brief

Worldwide, Switzerland was one of the last countries to take its silver money out of circulation. In 1968, the silver coins were replaced by coins made of a cupro-nickel alloy, which led to the Swiss collecting the silver money. This is the reason why small “collections” of these 5, 2, 1 and 1/2 Franc pieces can still be found in almost all households today. The silver coins were taken out of circulation on 1 April 1971.

Because so many Swiss silver coins regularly come onto the market, the specimens with traces of circulation no longer have any collector’s value and are only traded based on the current silver value. However, the positive aspect is that the value of the silver is currently higher than the nominal value of the coins.
