THE LUGDUNUM AUCTION 26
Wednesday, 16 December 2026 – Solothurn
Consignments welcome

Our auctions, The Lugdunum Auctions, take place once year and are well established in the international coin market. The offerings include coins & medals for experienced collectors, investors and newcomers alike.
For each auction we produce a high quality and well illustrated catalogue. These catalogues are available in both digital and printed forms. In addition, Live bidding technologies enable our international and Swiss clientele to bid in the easiest way possible from the confort of their home but without missing the thrill of the floor bidding.
We participate in all important coin fairs and auctions worldwide. This keeps us up to date with the latest developments in the coin market.
We have over 10 years of experience in organising floor and online auctions and look back on numerous successful auctions: since 2018 under our own management and before that in cooperation with a renowned Swiss auction house. We are pleased that our auctions offer rare coins as well as affordable coins & medals for newcomers.

Contact us to make an appointment for a free valuation of your coins & medals at our premises. For larger collections, we may also travel to a location of your choosing in Switzerland.
After examination and valuation of your coins, we know if they are suitable for our auctions. If so and upon agreement to our conditions (commission and schedule), the coins are listed on a consignment receipt and handed over to us. From this stage, they are covered by our insurance.
Your coins are carefully studied, photographed and added to our current auction catalogue. Based on this work and prior to publication, you will receive a detailed list of your coins as they will appear in the catalogue with their estimate.
The auction takes place and you are welcome to follow the sale in person or over the internet.
After the auction and within the agreed delay, the net result of the selling of your coins (hammer price minus our commission) will be paid into your bank account.
Please contact us in order to register to our auction by filling in a bidder registration form on AUEX.
Upon request we will send you a printed catalogue by post. You will also be informed by eMail of the schedule of the coming auction.
All coins & medals in the auction can be examined and rewieved at our premises before the date of sale. However you must make an appointment for viewing.
You may send your written bids by post or eMail. But if you prefer to feel the thrilling pulse of the auction, then you are welcome to bid live online or directly on the floor.
If you are the highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer, you will receive an invoice for the coin/s you purchased.
After reception of your payment, your coin will be sent to you by post (insured mail). Of course, if you would like to, you may collect your purchase directly at our premises by prior appointment.

High-quality imagery is an essential part of cataloguing. Our photography is conducted entirely in-house, balancing aesthetic care with strict scientific accuracy. We do not approach photography merely from a commercial marketing perspective; rather, we photograph each piece through the eyes of a numismatist.
Our goal is to present a realistic, transparent image. We avoid artificial digital enhancements that distort the true appearance of the metal, focusing instead on capturing the actual surface texture, toning and lustre.
By providing images that reflect the true physical nature of the coin, we give international bidders the factual clarity they need to make informed, confident decisions, ensuring also that the coins they receive look exactly as beautiful as on the pictures.
A static photograph can capture a grade; our videos capture an emotion. For our highlights, we produce two distinct film formats – Historical narrative & tactile viewing – and publish them on our Youtube Channel. This dual approach gives global bidders the absolute confidence and emotional connection required to bid without limits.
The Historical narrative, an immersive storytelling film presenting the characteristics that make a coin or medal exceptional, exploring its unique place in history. The tactile vewing, an unfiltered, ultra-close-up “virtual viewing” video that replicates the exact experience of holding the coin in your own hands.
